On July 4, the “CCERC-CIB National Carbon Market Carbon Emission Allowance Spot Pledge Price Index,” co-developed by CIB and China Carbon Emissions Registration, was officially launched.
The index derives its data from multiple commercial banks and carbon asset management companies involved in the carbon allowance pledge business. It is calculated based on the weighted monthly average transaction price in the carbon market and the monthly average pledge price of carbon emission rights projects. The index has a base date of July 16, 2021, with a base point set at 1,000. The index is calculated and published monthly, accurately reflecting overall market trends while ensuring a balance between scientific precision and fair pricing rules.
“The index aims to provide pricing guidance for carbon allowance pledge businesses, fostering a positive interaction between enterprises and the carbon market and promoting green, low-carbon transformation,” stated a representative from CIB’s Green Finance Department.
During the launch event, China Carbon Emissions Registration and Clearing Co., Ltd. (CCERC) awarded the first batch of national carbon market compliance completion certificates to enterprises. Additionally, CIB signed a loan agreement with corporate representatives concerning the application of the “CCERC-CIB National Carbon Market Carbon Emission Allowance Spot Pledge Price Index.”
